Prize Flood at the Math Quiz Game

Sieger Mathematik QuizAt the beginning of the school year grades 6 and 10 took part in a math quiz game via internet. Many questions were related to the German mathematics exhibition in Chiang Mai (“Mathematik zum Anfassen” - accessible mathematics, created by the Mathematikum in Gießen, Germany) organized by the Goethe Institute which we visited as whole classes. As common for a good quiz game great prizes such as tablet-PCs, cameras and books could be won. But the case of winning anything seemed to be very unlikely to us. Half a year later we had already forgotten about the competition when we received an email of the Goethe Institute in January.

Mr. Tim Koslowski wrote that we had won great prizes. Could this be true? Was it maybe a mistake of the Goethe Institute? We were confused because almost all students of grade 10 (including our class teacher) and many students of grade 6 had won a prize. We assuemd that not many people took part in the quiz game or that not many could answer all of the questions correctly (only in this case it was possible to win a prize). Probably that is why we had a bigger chance since we obviously counted to these few people and now we are enjoying the tablet-PCs, cameras and books we won!
