On October 4, 2019, the CDSC school community celebrated their 25th anniversary. It was a day that will be remembered by all. Full of gratitude, the school community looked back on their achievements, at the same time it marks a milestone on CDSC’s way into a successful future. But first a review of the unforgettable October 4, 2019.

In a heart-warming jubilee service, Stephan Tetzel emphasized again and again in his sermon that in the history of the CDSC there were many reasons to give thanks. Musically, this devotion was accompanied by a music team around Mirke and Martin Waldbüßer, a primary school choir led by Mathilde Hantco and an international choir with Khru Nuk and children of various ages.
Following the service, students of grades 1-12 worked in several project groups, including dance projects, creative writing, film projects, music, theatre, art projects, future projects and much more. At lunchtime, the whole school community gathered in the auditorium to witness a magnificent presentation, where the students turned into teachers of their work and both parents and teachers were fascinated by the colorful program.

The highlight of the day was the solemn evening ceremony at 6 pm at Shangri La Hotel Chiang Mai. Numerous invited guests of honor, including the Secretary General of the Church of Christ in Thailand, Ajarn Sayam (ศจ.สยาม ม่วงศักดิ์) representing the Thai school board, the Permanent Representative of the German Embassy in Thailand, Mr Jan Scheer, the Head of Amphoe Saraphi , Khun Pattanapong Soi-Intarakul (คุณ พัฒนพงษ์ สร้อย-อินทรากุล), the Head of Tambon Tha Wang Tan, Khun Anon Singtakeaw (คุณ อานนท์ สิงห์ตาแก้ว), the Acting Director of the Nursing Home McKean (as property owner of the CDSC site), Dr. Tinnakorn Sathirapatya (นพ. ทินกร สถิรแพทย์), the Thai Honorary Consul, Mrs. Marianne Zorn, the Head of the Education Department of Chiang Mai Province, Khun Kitthanate Punpanuchart (อ. กิตติ์ธเนศ พันธ์ภานุฉัตร์) and the German honorary consul in Chiang May, Mr. Hagen Dirksen, attended the event.
They all witnessed an unforgettable evening eloquently presented by Jessica Luder and Mintra Sowa. In their entertaining speeches, our Headmaster Markus Brandtner, CDSC Board Chairman and Marburg Mission Representative David Nescholta, Secretary General of the Church of Christ in Thailand, Ajarn Sayam, and Permanent Representative of the German Embassy Bangkok, Jan Scheer, emphasized that our school has much to offer and represents something special for everyone.

This was also evident in the artistic program with the international choir under the direction of Khun Nuk, the witty play by the theatre club arranged by Andreas Weinert, a traditional Thai dance of grade 6 students led by Khru Mint, a modern piano interpretation of Queen’s “Don’t stop me now” with David Stüber and an entertaining quiz about the history of the CDSC presented by the entertaining team Melina Wiens and David Hester.

Between the two parts of the program there was ample opportunity to indulge in the rich buffet, to exchange memories in enjoyable conversations and to admire the photo documentation about the development of the CDSC in the entrance area.
Thanks be to all those who have supported the CDSC in the past years and decades. Thanks also to the many helpers who made this special day possible.
At the same time the focus moves on. Our “CDSC forest project”, in which the pupils plant their own forest in cooperation with the tree nursery of the FORRU Institute of Chiang Mai University (www.forru.org), already began on October 7, 2019. We want to make this forest sustainable. Because the CDSC wants to become a CO2-neutral school, undoubtedly a milestone, and for us a new incentive to be able to look back with the same gratitude after the next 25 years.
